GBSAN September General Meeting

A GBSAN General meeting for all members was held on Sunday 22nd September.  

Toby Hutcheon from Boomerang Alliance gave an introduction to their current Plastic Free Places campaign and had a discussion with members about the possibility of introducing the campaign to the Granite Belt.

The various activities and projects undertaken by many members of GBSAN were presented and discussed.

Congratulations to everyone involved in organising and participating in these activities and projects.

Thanks to all GBSAN members for your support, without which none of this would be achieved.

Activities and projects discussed include:

  • GBSAN Bushcare Group

  • Disposal of household chemicals

  • Recycling education and reusable containers

  • Cat management

  • State forest upgrades

  • Landscape Linkages Project for wildlife habitat & enhancing biodiversity

  • Nature based tourism

  • Granite Belt GHG emissions

  • Granite Belt energy security

  • Sustainable water security strategy for the Granite Belt

  • Campaign to increase community awareness and engagement with a sustainable water strategy.

  • Community engagement activities such as films, stalls, Queenie the Quoll A&G float, student info sessions,

  • Interacting with many other local and statewide groups,

  • Reviewing the GBSAN Strategic Plan with the current and planned projects..

The AGM will be on Sunday 24th November from 11.30am. AGM to start at 12pm. Lunch meal if desired from 1.30pm.  Come along and celebrate a successful year.
