Community Engagement Team Updates

GBSAN stall for World Environment Day on 5 June

The Community Engagement Team (CET) actively supported World Environment Day on 5 June with an information stall in the Stanthorpe Piazza. It was great to work in partnership with Stanthorpe Rare Wildflower Consortium's team in this endeavour.

The theme of World Environment Day this year included Ecosystem Restoration and this gave us a chance to highlight GBSAN's activities to the public.

We had many beautiful nature photos entered into our raffle competition to celebrate World Environment Day. The raffle was drawn at the Stanthorpe Farmer's Market on 29th June. The winner was one of our hard-working volunteers, Lyn Rowley.

GBSAN next Movie Event!

Pencil in Saturday 24th August from 1:30pm to 5:00pm for our next Movie Event. This is going to be a truly special screening as it features our local trailblazers, who are working hard to conserve one of our unique and endangered native plants, Boronia Repanda.

We are partnering with Stanthorpe Rare Wildflower Consortium to screen the short film - “Back From the Brink – the Border Boronia”. This will be followed by a talk and discussion with Associate Professor, Don Sands explaining the unique qualities of this beautiful endangered wildflower. The film also showcases how conservation can work hand in hand with agricultural practices as exemplified by Michelle and Tim Coelli's eco-vineyard – Twisted Gum.

The movie will be preceded by a social gathering enjoying delicious soup and damper and a chance to catch up with and chat to other GBSAN members.

The Venue will be Stanthorpe Little Theatre. We will have more information available soon.
