Waste and Resource Recovery updates
The Waste and Resource Recovery Group has committed to focus on three key areas where our efforts can be directed to affect change:
1. To progress the concept and development of an anaerobic biodigester with the Southern Downs Regional Council and to lobby for a feasibility study to be conducted to assess the viability of a biodigester in the region.
2. To educate and inform the SDRC community about recycling and to work on compiling a list of resources to assist residents to make appropriate choices regarding recycling.
3. To present our Hazardous Chemical proposal to the SDRC to improve the current disposal methods for toxic chemicals. This work is ongoing.
For further information on these projects see this page.
Other ideas will be considered if they arise.
The Waste and Resource Recovery Group has been represented by John Lucas in talks between GBSAN and the SDRC. Further talks with SDRC are required to promote our ideas.
The Waste and Resource Recovery group is always welcoming to new members who would like to see improvement in the sector. In particular, we seek people who would be interested in helping us draft and deliver community surveys and assisting with the process of writing grants. If you have these skills or think you could develop them we would love to hear from you.
