Community Engagement Team

The recent formation of the GBSAN Community Engagement Team emerged to focus on continuing to raise awareness, educate and communicate the need for a sustainable future for our community.

Specific aims for 2023/24 include:

  • Creating a higher profile in the community of GBSAN goals and projects

  • Increasing active membership

  • Creating reciprocal activities with other community groups

  • SDRC election 2024 – ascertain how candidates positions align with GBSAN goals and communicate this to voters

Communication within the GBSAN membership as well as with the broader community is a key feature, especially leading up to the SDRC elections in March 2024. We will be continuing our current communications ie newsletters, Facebook, newspaper articles as well as engaging in Face to Face opportunities with our community via events and weekly market stalls (hopefully alternating the Saturday and Friday market).

Events include the Stanthorpe Gardenfest and Trade Fair 6th and 7th October; Eco Expo- 15th October and the Apple and Grape Festival Feb 2024. A presence at the weekly markets will commence in late October 2023 and continue until March 2024 with a focus on biodiversity and resource management.

We are keen to have conversations with our community to gauge interest in GBSAN topics, raise awareness of current issues and to ascertain what other topics are important to our community.

If you are interested in volunteering on our stalls please contact Geraldine: geraldine8749@bigpond.com

Looking forward to meeting up with our GBSAN members at these events – don't forget to stop and say hello!
