GBSAN team updates

Community Engagement Team

The CET is looking forward to our first Film Night on 10th February, screening “Rachel's Farm” as well as hosting a panel, discussing exciting agricultural sustainability projects on the ground in our region. The evening will present a great opportunity for GBSAN members to get together as well as welcoming new members.

Our market stalls will be on 17th Feb in the Piazza and 24th Feb and 9 March at the Farmer's Market at the railway precinct. Our focus will be to provide a context for the 5 to 6 key issues we will be highlighting for the upcoming SDRC election. Not only will we have information about the issues but also the rationale for these and possible solutions eg encouraging council to create a full-time “Bushcare Officer” to reduce loss of habitat. Our interactive game “Councillor for a Day” promises to be an entertaining way to assist people to really get their teeth into these issues.

Don't forget to come along to our Apple and Grape Float making workshop at the Farmer's Market on 10th February from 8am to 11 am.

Biodiversity – Wildlife Habitat

Exciting developments are happening for the GBSAN Biodiversity Team partnering with Southern Qld Landscapes, Granite Borders Landcare and the Quoll Society of Australia. This will enable the delivery and funding of two locally held workshops in April/May and June 2024. These workshops aim to build capacity for landholders to look beyond the boundaries of their own properties, working with neighbours to plan, design and build extensive habitat linkages. This promises to enhance biodiversity value as well as building social connections.
