Community Engagement updates

Weedbusters

We’re working on a new Weedbusters group to help protect biodiversity for healthy bushland habitats, by reducing the impact of invasive weeds. This group would meet monthly to tackle weedy areas. If you’re interested in helping out, contact Geraldine Hollingsworth, Convenor, Community Engagement Team, geraldine8749@bigpond.com. So far Geraldine has had a very enthusiastic response from 12 people who have nominated to be regular weedbusters - next step is to get together to work out times etc, where to target our energies, insurance coverage and equipment (applying for RSL grant on behalf of GBSAN for equipment).

Landscape Linkages Project

This is a big project and ongoing. Kym WIlson has helped out with the mapping stage - landholders can complete a form if interested in having their property mapped to start the linkage project - go to GBSAN - Take Action - Biodiversity Landscape Linkages Project - scroll to the end to find the form.

Movie Event

Border Boronia - Back from the Brink - and talk by Dr Don Sands as well as launch of Landscape Linkages and weedbusters projects. We'll have soup and damper to encourage a social get together as well as showing people how they can sign up for projects. We'll need some volunteers for this. Saturday 24th August, 2pm. Stanthorpe Little Theatre.

For more information on these projects, contact Geraldine Hollingsworth, Convenor, Community Engagement Team, geraldine8749@bigpond.com.
